Job description: 1. To promote literacy at all times inside and outside the classroom; 2. To be the first point of contact for parents in all matters related to their students, both academic, co-curricular and pastoral, maintaining regular contact with parents regarding student progress and behaviour; 3.To promote and maintain a positive learning environment at all times, including maintenance of good behaviour and positive relationships, in accordance with the school’s Behaviour Policy and student Guidance; 4. To maintain contact with other staff, grade leaders and the Student Affairs department in respect of progress and behaviour; 5. To provide front line pastoral support to students, which requires a deep understanding of each student’s background, character, strengths and areas for development; 6. To deliver the content of the relevant Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme in designated HRT periods, which aims to develop social and personal skills in students; 7. To be familiar with and monitor the progress of their students in other classes and subjects and to provide appropriate support where students may be making insufficient progress; 8. To be familiar with and uphold all School aims, values and policies at all times; 9. To assist students in their wider development, for example by supporting them in sports fixtures, musical performances or dramatic productions; 10. To provide opportunities for collaborative projects for the students, for example as part of whole school charity efforts, events for parents or other whole school events; • To guide and support students in the school assembly programme; 11.
